A man in the US state of Missouri amputated his own legs to get insurance money and tried to pass it off as a tractor-trailer accident.
According to foreign media reports, the Howell County Sheriff’s Office recently completed an investigation into a very strange case. In November of last year, a 60-year-old man claimed he lost both of his legs after an alleged accident. The man said that his legs were amputated by a machine on a tractor, investigation revealed that there were some aspects of the man’s story that were clearly suspicious.
The man claimed that his legs were amputated, but no legs were found anywhere, and his wounds were so clean that it did not appear that his legs had been crushed by a tractor.
An investigating official said in his statement that if this accident had happened, blood would have been seen around, but it was not, I have seen such accidents before. The officers and medical personnel who were called to the accident site Suspicions were raised that the man’s legs did not appear to have been cut off by a tractor.
Investigation revealed that the person concerned was a paraplegic who, when he found out that his legs were useless, hatched a scheme to commit insurance fraud.
