Famous filmmaker of Indian film industry Kumar Shahani passed away at the age of 83.

According to Indian media reports, well-known Bollywood filmmaker Kumar Shahani died on Saturday at the age of 83 while he died in Kolkata.

Renowned filmmaker Kumar Shahani was one of the pioneers of Indian parallel cinema and his career spanned six decades, directing critically acclaimed films including the 1972 film Maya Darpan. . Born on December 7, 1940 in the Pakistani city of Larkana, Kumar Shahani studied at the Film and Television Institute of India.

Shahani\’s film Maya Darpan also won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in 1973. He also directed the film \’Char Adhyay\’ in 1997, inspired by Rabindranath Tagore\’s novel. Shahani acted between 1958 and 1962. Studied political science and history, later attended film school and won a scholarship to study at IDHEC in Paris.

He also made a name for himself as a teacher and cinema theorist.
