increase in the prices of food items before the arrival of Ramadan

Even before the arrival of Ramadan, the prices of food items have increased.

Like other cities of the country, the district government and administration in Lahore have failed miserably to control inflation. According to market sources, prices of onion, ginger, garlic, cassava, apple, banana and papaya have increased.

Apple and cano are Rs 400, banana Rs 200 per dozen. The price of onion went up to Rs 220 and tomato to Rs 169 per kg. Ghee is being sold at Rs 510, sugar at Rs 155, mutton at Rs 2,200 and chicken at Rs 617 per kg.

Similarly, simple oven bread is Rs 20 but its weight has been reduced and the price of naan has been increased from Rs 25 to Rs 30 in some places.
