The Socialist Party of Belgium has issued a ticket to Pakistani-origin Councilor Amir Naeem for this year’s Brussels Regional Parliament elections.
The Socialist Party received 300 applications to participate in these elections, out of which 72 people were given tickets by the party on the basis of equality between men and women.
Aamir Naeem has been allotted 55 number in this list. Similarly, in the commune of Anderlecht (in which he is already a councillor), he was ranked 8th in the local elections held in October.
It should be noted that the Socialist Party is an old party that is valued among the immigrant communities in the country, especially in the capital Brussels, because of its stance of supporting refugees on the basis of humanity.
It was also the first party in the country to include people from migrant communities in the national mainstream and nominate them as candidates.
