Indian man swallows 39 coins to cure zinc deficiency

A man from the Indian capital of Delhi swallowed 39 coins and 37 magnets to remove zinc deficiency from his body. According to media reports, the boy who swallowed the coins and magnets was unable to eat or drink anything for 20 days and was repeatedly vomiting and in the stomach. He had reached Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi with a complaint of pain.

According to the report, doctors removed 39 coins and 37 magnets of different shapes from the intestines of the 26-year-old boy through surgery. According to the hospital administration, the 26-year-old boy is suffering from a mental illness, the mental patient allegedly took the coins and magnets. Ingested under the that zinc supports physical health and development, the patient was also being treated for psychiatric illness.

After undergoing an X-ray and CT scan of the patient’s abdomen, it was found that he had swallowed coins and magnets. The doctors removed the coins and magnets from the patient’s stomach through an operation and he was discharged from the hospital after recovery. The doctors told the media that a total of 39 coins (1, 2, 5 rupees) and 37 magnets of different shapes were removed from the patient’s stomach.

Questioning the patient revealed that he had ingested the coins and magnets because he believed that zinc helped the body develop.
