Gautam Gambhir has announced to quit politics

BJP MP from East Delhi Gautam Gambhir has announced to leave the political arena. He has requested Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah through a social media post that he wants to focus only on cricket now. It may be noted that the Bharatiya Janata Party may release its first list for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections today. It is expected that this time the ticket of many current members of parliament can be cut!

Gautam Gambhir wrote in a post on social media, “I have requested party president JP Nadda to relieve me of my political duties so that I can focus on my upcoming cricketing commitments.” I am deeply grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, for giving me the opportunity to serve the people. Gautam Gambhir has been a member of the Indian team in T20 World Cup 2007 and ODI World Cup 2011. Gautam Gambhir played the match-winning innings for the Indian team in the finals of both the tournaments. Gambhir scored 75 runs in 54 balls in the T20 World Cup final. Also, 91 runs came out of his bat in the final of the ODI World Cup. Gambhir is currently the mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL. He has also been the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
