The 52nd death anniversary of renowned poet Nasir Kazmi is being celebrated
The 52nd anniversary of the famous ghazal poet, journalist and writer Nasir Kazmi is being celebrated today. As soon as his first poetry collection ‘Barg’ was published, he became one of the foremost poets of Urdu Ghazal. Rather, there was a faint glimmer of realization that seemed to descend into the soul.

Nasir Raza Kazmi was born on December 8, 1925 in Anbala. After the partition of India, he settled in Lahore, could not complete his higher education, but started writing poetry in his youth. In 1952, his first collection of poetry, Berg, made him one of the foremost poets of Urdu Ghazal.

He is considered to be one of the first architects of modern Ghazal and in recognition of his literary services, Pakistan Post issued a special stamp in 2013. Nasir Kazmi spent most of his life in teahouses and deserted streets telling stories at night. His best poems and ghazals are the essence of his experiences.

He renewed the ghazal and restored the dignity of the ghazal with his lively poetry and the ghazal sung in Madam Noor Jahan’s voice “Dil Dhakne ka saab yaya yaya” is a testimony, while Khalil Haider also sang Nasir’s ghazal “New Clothes”. I got recognition by singing “Where should I change?”
Nasir Kazmi died on March 2, 1972 in Lahore but his poetry still refreshes the hearts.
