The President approved amnesty for women and children with sentences of less than 2 years
President Arif Alvi approved amnesty for women and children with less than 2 years sentence on humanitarian grounds.
According to the House of Representatives, the President also approved amnesty for women and children whose remaining sentence is less than two years. The amnesty will not apply to those guilty of murder, sedition, espionage, kidnapping, robbery and activities against the state.
According to the President’s House, the amnesty will not be applicable to the offenders of adultery ordinance, anti-terrorism and anti-narcotics laws.
The president granted the pardon on the advice of the prime minister.
