The President of Pakistan is the most important position of the state of Pakistan. The President is the head of state of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The President of Pakistan is also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. However, the President’s Office is a formal position in Pakistan, as the President is bound to follow the advice of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet. The constitution of Pakistan requires that the president should be a Muslim of up to (45) years of age. For your interest and information, let us tell you that so far, a total of 13 presidents have been the head of state in Pakistan. The first president was Iskandar Ali Mirza, who assumed office on March 23, 1956. While the current president is Arif Alvi, who took office on September 9, 2018, after winning the 2018 elections.. From 1947 to 1956, the country was represented by the Governor General of Pakistan.
The first president of Watan Aziz was Mr. Major General Iskandar Mirza whose presidency was from 23-03-1956 to 27-10-1958. However, after General Muhammad Ayub Khan came to power, Major General Iskandar Mirza was deposed and President Ayub Khan. took charge as the elected President. The term of President Ayub was from 27-10-1958 to 25-03-1969. Then President Ayub handed over the power to General Muhammad Yahya Khan and left after handing over the presidency to him. Yahya Khan held the office of President of Pakistan from 25-03-1969 to 20-12-1971. Then the presidency came to Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto from 20-12-1971 to 14-08-1973.
When President Bhutto took the oath of the Prime Minister under the parliamentary system, Mr. Fazal Elahi Chaudhry got the office of President for the period from 14-08-1973 to 16-09-1978 and Mr. Fate turned this country upside down and once again. The military government came and General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq emerged as the head of the state. After the martyrdom, Mr. Ghulam Ishaq Khan was the president of Pakistan from 17-08-1988 to 08-07-1993, then from 14-11-1993 to 02-12-1997 the honor of the president of the country was with Sardar Farooq Ahmad Laghari. After which Muhammad Rafiq Tarar became the President of Pakistan from 01-01-1998 to 20-06-2001. General Pervez Musharraf held the position of President of Pakistan from 20-06-2001 to 15-10-2007 in the case of military revolution after Rafiq Tarrke.In addition, General (retd) Pervez Musharraf was the President of Pakistan from 29-11-2007 to 18-08-2008. After him, Asif Ali Zardari from 09-09-2008 as a result of the democratic government. He assumed the office of the President of the State till 09-09-2013. After Asif Ali Zardari, Mamnoon Hussain occupied the presidency from 09-09-2013 to 09-09-2018. And after him, the current president, Dr. Arifur Rehman Alvi, is holding the office of president from 09-09-2018 till now.
