The profiteers gave a big shock of inflation to the people before Ramadan.
Even before the holy month, the prices of food items started talking to the sky. Due to lack of check and balance, the traders also blew up the government price list.
In Karachi, onion started selling at Rs 300, tomato at Rs 200 per kg, while the capsicum used in samosa roll was out of reach of the public and the price went from Rs 200 per kg to Rs 700 per kg in a day.
Garlic started selling at 1000 rupees, ginger at 600 rupees and green chillies at 500 rupees per kilo in the bazaars of Karachi. Apart from this, veal meat is being sold at 1400 rupees while chicken meat is being sold at 700 rupees.
