Dog bite vaccine 'Dow Rab' developed at Dow University

Dow University of Health Sciences in Karachi has developed anti-rabies vaccine “Dow Rab” to prevent rabies from dog bites.

Vice Chancellor of Dow University of Health Sciences Professor Muhammad Saeed Qureshi while addressing the inauguration ceremony of “Dow Rab” said that the anti-rabies vaccine called Dow Rab developed by Dow University will be provided to the victims only on a phone call.

According to him, the vaccine will be delivered to the desired location within 48 hours of a phone call. Initially, this facility has been introduced in Sindh province, which will later be expanded across the country.

It should be noted that dog and snake bite protection vaccines are generally not available in government hospitals throughout Sindh, due to which many deaths have occurred. Then there are reports of hospital staff not giving vaccines to ordinary patients.
