The Punjab government has decided to give subsidy to the farmers to convert tube wells to solar.
According to Finance Ministry sources, farmers will be helped in shifting the tubewells to Solarpur.
Sources of the Ministry of Finance said that 12 billion rupees will be given to the farmers to transfer tube wells to solar, every farmer can transfer his tube well to solar up to 20 kilowatts.
According to Finance Ministry sources, the Punjab government will give subsidy of up to 50% per tube well, the purpose of giving subsidy is to reduce the electricity cost of farmers.
