The Privatization Commission has set a 5-year program for privatization.
According to sources, the Privatization Committee of the Cabinet will approve the new five-year privatization program on May 10. The Cabinet Committee will determine the targets for the first year and the next three years for privatization.
Sources say that the IMF had demanded a privatization roadmap for the new program, the IMF demands that all government commercial companies should be privatized immediately. Previously recommended for privatization, there are currently 87 commercial companies operating in the government sector.
Sources say that federal ministries have proposed not to privatize 39 government commercial companies, under the new law only the finance ministry can declare a company as strategic.
Sources say that the rights of employees will be protected in the privatization of government commercial companies, it has also been proposed to give a golden handshake to the employees, the Privatization Committee of the Cabinet will decide the package for the employees.
