Lawyers are on strike today against the arrest and torture of lawyers in Lahore on the call of bar associations across the country.
In this regard, the lawyer leaders have called a general house meeting at the Lahore High Court Bar. Security arrangements have been tightened. Additional police personnel have been deployed inside and outside the High Court.
On the other hand, lawyers have boycotted the courts in other cities of the country in this regard. The officials of the Karachi Bar Association have locked all the entrance doors to the city court.
There is also a strike of lawyers in Gujranwala Bar. President Bar Association Gujranwala Aamir Munir said that they strongly condemn the violence, tear gas and shelling of lawyers. A strike has also been called by the Peshawar High Court Bar Association. Lawyers did not appear in the courts across the province today.
In this regard, the Peshawar High Court Bar Association says that the arrested lawyers should be released immediately and action should be taken against those involved. It should be remembered that the Pakistan Bar Council today protested against the torture and arrest of lawyers by the Lahore Police. A general strike has been announced.
