4 billion rupees released for Karachi Safe City project

The Sindh government has released 4 billion rupees for the Karachi Safe City project.

DIG Police Asif Ijaz Shaikh has been appointed as Drawing Disbursing Officer of the project.

DG Sindh Safe Authority had written a letter for funds for the Karachi Safe City project, the Development and Planning Department had approved Rs 6 billion 621 crore for the first phase on January 8.

In the first phase, 23 smart vehicles, 1300 face recognition cameras and control room building will be completed, initially covering red zone, Shariah Faisal and airport corridor areas.

Cameras capable of capturing images with night vision, facial recognition and recording of vehicle number plates will be installed.

The Safe City project will also include data on the images of prisoners and will be completed in two-and-a-half years. The command and control building of the project is being constructed in a building adjacent to the Karachi Police Office.
