California: Meta has decided to shut down Facebook’s office communication platform called Workplace.
Facebook Workplace was introduced to compete with office communication platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Slack, but is now being discontinued.
A Meta spokesperson confirmed the workplace closure. According to the spokesperson, this platform will be available to users by August 31, 2025.
It was previously called Facebook at Work and was publicly introduced in 2016. It was originally developed in 2014 and was used in-house for 2 years, then rolled out to enterprises.
In view of the decision to close the workplace, Metta will offer a 50% discount to customers using the service from September 2024.
