Turkey and Pakistan agreed to further strengthen their economic partnership in a high-level meeting.

The Ambassador of Turkey, Mr. Mehmet Pekasi, met with the Federal Minister for Economy, Umorah Khan Cheema. The meeting was focused on strengthening the long-standing brotherly relations between Turkey and Pakistan. In the meeting, they agreed to take economic cooperation to new heights. The trade deal was hailed as an important development.

The Federal Minister informed the Ambassador of Turkey about the establishment of SIFC in Pakistan with the aim of attracting investment between the friendly countries. During the meeting, the possibilities of Turkish investment in Pakistan for corporate farming were also highlighted. Includes agricultural machinery and equipment.

Both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in bilateral trade and investment through government-to-government and business-to-business arrangements.

Appreciating the importance of SIFC, the Turkish ambassador expressed his desire to expand bilateral trade and promote cooperation in the fields of energy, banking, trade and railways through a high-level strategic operation council and strategic economic framework.

The next session of the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council is expected to meet soon to discuss plans, which will focus on increasing the trade volume to $5 billion.

During the meeting, the plan to establish a branch of Turkey Bank in Pakistan was also discussed to further strengthen the economic relations between the two countries.

At the end of the meeting, the Minister for Economic Affairs Prof. Faqi reiterated the commitment of the Government of Pakistan to continue working to increase cooperation in various fields for the mutual benefit of the two countries, realizing the full potential of bilateral relations.
