An 83-year-old black American woman has become the oldest graduate of Howard University in Washington. The woman received this honor when she received her doctoral degree in religious studies.
Mary Flower previously earned a bachelor’s and two master’s degrees from Maple Springs Baptist Bible College and Seminary.
In this regard, she said that initially she did not think that she would graduate. That’s because I’ve been out of school since 1959, I didn’t even know I could retain the information.
However, contrary to his expectations, he obtained his doctoral degree in just three years. She said that she wants to say in this regard that it is never too late for anything. I wish everyone to understand that I am 83 years old, so if I can do it, then why can’t you.
Mary Flower said that the deciding factor in her education was her parents, who were born in a time when it was illegal for them to get an education. My father taught us to read and write.
