It has been revealed that the production of mangoes in Pakistan has decreased this year as well. Due to the decrease in production, the export target has also been reduced. Pakistan will lose millions of dollars due to the decrease in the export of mangoes.

According to the details, All Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association has set a target of 100,000 tons of mango export this season.

The export of mangoes will start from May 20, along with the traditional markets, the focus will be on the value-added market of China, America, Turkey, Japan, Iran, Afghanistan and Central Asian states should also play an important role in achieving the export target of mangoes. will According to the All Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, the effects of climate change are having a serious impact on the mango orchards in Pakistan, due to which there is a significant decrease in production and due to the non-availability of export quality mangoes, the export was also reduced last year. The target could not be met.

This year the export target has been set at 100,000 tonnes, whereas last year the export target was 125,000 tonnes, but the export of mango remained at 100,000 tonnes. This season, 100,000 tons of export will earn 90 million dollars in foreign exchange. It has been reported that the effects of climate change have become the biggest threat to mango production, which can be estimated from the fact that there is a decline in mango production for the third consecutive year.

18 lakh tons of mangoes are produced in the country, of which 70% are produced in Punjab, 29% in Sindh and one percent in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This year, due to weather effects, the production of Punjab is 35 to 40%, while the production of Sindh is less than 20%, due to which the total production is expected to be less than 6 lakh tons. Due to the climatic effects in Punjab, the production of mango is 5 lakh tons while Sindh is facing a decrease of 1 lakh tons, thus the total production is estimated to be 12 lakh tons compared to the average of 18 lakh tons.
