Gulf alert issued in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan

Due to rising temperatures in Gilgit-Baltistan, the risk of flooding has increased due to melting glaciers this week.

According to a media report, the Meteorological Department on Monday warned local authorities that daytime temperatures in Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to be four to six degrees Celsius above normal between May 21 and 27. Storms with wind and thunder are also expected during this period.

The Meteorological Department has warned of possible glacial leakage burst flood (GLF) events and flooding in the region this week.
