Concerns of Congo Virus spread during Eid-ul-Adha; First case reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The National Institute of Health (NIH) has expressed the fear of Congo virus spreading across the country before the arrival of Eid-ul-Azha.

NIH has issued an advisory to citizens and concerned authorities in view of the fear of Congo virus outbreak on Eid-ul-Azha. This decision has been taken in view of the first case of Congo fever in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa before Eid-ul-Azha this year.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) under the NIH has emphasized the need to be vigilant against Congo fever, especially on Eid-ul-Azha. Last year too, 101 cases were reported in Pakistan after Eid-ul-Azha.

According to the CDC, Congo fever in animals is caused by a tick-borne neurovirus. This fever is mainly transmitted to humans through blood or tissue during mosquito bites or slaughtering animals infected with the neurovirus. In addition, the NIH has prevented Congo fever in the country, as well as heat stroke and typhoid fever. Important instructions have also been issued for prevention.
