Scientists have discovered an Earth-sized planet that could harbor life.
Located 40 light-years from Earth, the planet is about the same size as Venus, but slightly smaller than Earth.
Glaze it. Named 12b, it orbits a star that is 27 percent smaller than our Sun. The planet completes its orbit around the star in 12.8 days and is not yet known to have a climate. Is it or not?
But scientists estimate that the planet’s surface temperature could be as low as 42 degrees Celsius, which is much lower than thousands of other planets discovered so far.
According to research, the planet’s temperature is just right for liquid water on the surface, and we believe that water is a necessary component for life. Whether or not or how different it is from Earth.
