Karachi: The Sindh High Court allowed the court reporters to report the daily court proceedings. A hearing was held in the Sindh High Court against the ban on the reporting of the court proceedings.
The court stayed the banning clauses of PEMRA’s May 21 notification allowing daily court reporting by court reporters.
The Sindh High Court issued a notice to PEMRA, Ministry of Information and others and sought their reply by June 6.
The Chief Justice Sindh High Court remarked that court reporters should also show responsibility in court reporting, broadcasting some remarks or observations gives a wrong impression of the judiciary. The Sindh High Court adjourned further hearing of the case till June 6. .
It should be remembered that a few days ago, Pemra had banned court reporters from broadcasting court proceedings on the media, against which petitions were filed by journalists in different cities.
