Photo and video sharing app Instagram has introduced two improved features to protect the youth.
According to the foreign news agency, the features introduced by Meta-owned app Instagram are aimed at protecting young people from abusive or insulting behavior of other people.
For this purpose, the company has improved Limit and Restrict features so that youngsters can avoid people who behave abusively.
According to the statement issued by Instagram, users can limit their posts to only close friends through Limit. After doing this, they will only be able to see comments, direct messages, tags and mentions from people who are in their close friends list.
Other followers will also be able to discuss these posts, but their comments and messages will not be visible to others. Such a feature was introduced for critters in 2021 but now it has been changed to keep youngsters in mind.
Similarly, the Restrict feature has also been changed. Through this feature, users will be able to prevent different people from tagging or mentioning themselves. The comments of the people included in the restricted list will also disappear automatically. Meta has updated these features at a time when the company is facing scrutiny in various countries around the world due to youth protection and other issues.
Dozens of US states also filed lawsuits against Meta in 2023, alleging that the social media company was failing to protect young people.
