Confirmation of polio virus in environmental samples of 12 districts of the country

Islamabad: Despite the anti-polio campaign, the spread of polio virus continues in the country.

Officials have informed that polio virus has been confirmed in environmental samples of 12 districts including 2 new districts Dera Ismail Khan and Bahawalpur.

In Sindh, polio virus was re-confirmed in the environmental samples of Mirpur Khas, Karachi South, East and Korangi. In addition, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Lucky Marwat and Peshawar, while in Balochistan also in the environmental samples of Aosta Muhammad, Chaman, Quetta and Mastung. Polio virus has been confirmed.

According to officials, polio virus has spread in 42 districts of Pakistan so far.
