KARACHI: The court rejected the request to extend the physical remand of the social leader Saram Birni, who was arrested on the charge of human trafficking, and sent the accused to jail on judicial remand.
Social leader Saram Birni, detained by FIA on charges of human trafficking and fraud, was produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate Sharqi on completion of two-day physical remand.
Further physical remand of the accused was requested by the FIA investigation officer and it was said that mother Afshin had sold the baby girl to a woman named Madiha, Madiha sold the baby girl to another woman Bushra, Saram in the family court. The Bernie Trust declared the girl an orphan.
The investigating officer said that the accused is not cooperating in the investigation, he is not answering the question correctly, there are more than 20 victims who have to be identified but the accused is not cooperating.
The court asked the lawyer of FIA how much money the person who adopted the girl Haya took, to which the lawyer said that the person who adopted the girl gave 3 thousand dollars, the court asked if there is any evidence related to the money. You have, the lawyer said, sought digital and financial records from US authorities.
Lawyer FIA said that the case of minor girls should be tried in camera, an organized group is involved, the accused should be remanded for one more week. The court inquired if the real parents of the girls are alive. On which the lawyer said that the parents of the girls are alive and will record their statement in the court.
Amir Nawaz Waraich, advocate appeared in the court on behalf of the accused Saram Birni and said that the family has been contacted. This woman was being blackmailed by the FIA.
Lawyer Saram Birni said that the accused will answer the appropriate question, while Saram Birni said that I have evidence in my mobile phone, I said that I am out of the country and will come back and answer. The court questioned the accused. Why did you lie when you knew that the girl’s real parents were alive, to which Saram Barney said, I didn’t know.
The court expressed surprise and said that you are the head of the institution, how did you not know, the bail application has also been filed on behalf of the accused.
The court ordered the FIA investigating officer to record the accused’s statement and sent Saram Birni to jail on judicial remand and said that the bail application of the accused will be heard on June 10.
