The process of polling for the by-elections on the 6 vacant seats of the Senate is going on.
Polling for the by-elections for Senate seats from Islamabad, Balochistan and Sindh began at 9 am and will continue till 4 pm.
Ilyas Mehrban of Sunni Ittehad Council and Yusuf Raza Gilani of People’s Party are candidates from Islamabad for the Senate seat. Voting for the Islamabad seat is taking place in the National Assembly.
People’s Party’s Jam Saifullah Khan and Muhammad Aslam Abro are candidates in the Senate by-election from Sindh, while Nazirullah and Shazia Sohail of the Sunni Alliance Council are also candidates for the Senate from Sindh.
Sources say that the members of MQM and Jamaat-e-Islami have decided not to vote in the Senate election. Seven candidates are in the field for the by-elections on 3 general seats of the Senate from Balochistan.
People’s Party’s Abdul Qudous Bizenjo and PML-N’s Dostin Domki are among the candidates, JUIF’s Abdul Shakoor Khan and Balochistan Awami Party’s Kahida Babar and Mubin Khalji are also candidates. Two candidates Syed Mehmood Shah and Mir Harbyar Domki are also independent. Participating in the election.
