Pakistan expects to receive 8 billion dollars from the World Bank.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has restarted negotiations with the World Bank for a new four-year program and is expected to receive $8 billion from the IMF through the Country Partnership Strategy Policy Framework, with a few major priority areas.

This CPS may cover from 2025 to 2029, the policy framework and actual duration of the CP are still not finalized in the ongoing negotiations. Because a lot of time was spent in the elections and the formation of the new government.

Now that the new ‘elected’ government has come, it is negotiating with the international organization for a new CPS so that the standard CPS of four to five years will be obtained in the next two months.

For four to five years, CPS will focus mostly on priority areas and discussions are ongoing to finalize the framework for major areas of funding for the next five years.

Talking to The News, an official said that Pakistan wants to get as much as possible over the next four to five years to meet its external financing needs.
