Japan: Snake on train, 2700 passengers delayed

2,700 passengers were delayed after a snake entered a train in Japan.

In this regard, the East Japan Railroad Company said that a passenger reported the presence of a snake on the train to a railway employee at Shibuya Station in Tokyo on Sunday.

On which the train was stopped at Komagom station and cleared of passengers, the staff started searching for the snake hidden in the train. However, the snake was not found, after which the train returned to service but the passengers were kept outside the train. It was later taken to the Shinagawa maintenance center for a thorough checkup.

During the search, an employee caught a snake about eight inches long hiding under a seat of the train and handed it over to the police.

According to the police, it was a non-poisonous Japanese rat snake which will now be released into the wild.
