Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has converted another famous church in Istanbul into a mosque after Hagia Sophia.
According to foreign media reports, the Turkish government has converted the Byzantine Church of Saint Savior in Kora into a mosque. According to the report, Recep Tayyip Erdogan ordered the conversion of this church into a mosque in August 2020, however, The formal announcement was made after the conversion of Aya Sofia back into a mosque.
The report further states that both these historical places of worship are considered as United Nations World Heritage Sites and their conversion into mosques has been appreciated by the Muslim community around the world.
Remember that when Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced his decision to turn the Hagia Sophia museum back into a mosque, Pope Francis expressed regret for his decision. It was converted into a museum decades ago.
