The Iranian parliament has approved Friday and Saturday holidays.

Iran’s parliament has approved changes to the weekly holiday for civil servants, declaring Fridays and Saturdays as weekends.

According to the German Broadcasting Corporation, after the approval given by the Iranian Parliament yesterday, 40 hours will be worked from Sunday to Thursday.

The legislation still needs formal approval from the country’s Constitutional Oversight Council. Iran currently has a 44-hour working week, with Thursday being a half-day and Friday being a full day off.

Regarding the Friday and Saturday holiday in Parliament, 136 members supported the draft law while 66 opposed and three members were absent.
