China's mission ready to land on the South Pole of the Moon soon

China’s space mission Chang’e-6 will try to land soon to collect samples from the moon’s south pole and send them back to Earth.

The mission is currently in lunar orbit and in early June it will attempt to land on the dark side of the moon. It is called dark or secret because of the lack of details.

The mission will land in the north-eastern region of the south pole of the Moon. At this time, the mission is waiting for the proper lighting at the landing site. The Chang’e-6 spacecraft will remain in the lunar orbit while its lander is on the Moon. will descend to the level of

Within 48 hours after landing, the lander will collect rocks and other samples from the lunar surface using a robotic arm. The Chang’e mission will begin its return journey to Earth and after 5 days the capsule will enter the Earth’s atmosphere and land in northern China.

It should be noted that the Chang’e mission left for the Moon on May 3 and will return to Earth after collecting these samples within 53 days. This will be the first time that samples from the dark side of the Moon will be brought back to Earth. Previously, samples from the near surface of the moon were collected during such missions by the US, Soviet Union and China.

The Cheng E6 mission will collect samples weighing 2 kg and if the mission is successful, it will be a huge advance.

Scientists are very interested in the south pole of the moon because the icy region there can allow research stations to stay for a long time. After the Chang E6, China will send the Cheng E7 robotic mission to the south pole of the Moon. .

The mission will look for signs of ice there while also examining the region’s atmosphere and climate. The Chang’e 8 mission will conclude a series of Chang’e missions that will be sent there to possibly establish a research station.
