Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani has said that collective punishment system has been introduced in Karachi by K Electric and they boldly accept it, but one person cannot be punished for the whole society.
While giving a press conference in Karachi, Saeed Ghani said that the policies of K Electric are beyond our understanding.
He said that the issue of electricity is beyond our control, I admit that no organization can provide electricity by spending money from its own pocket, never encourage electricity theft but why people who do not steal electricity should suffer load shedding. Saeed Ghani said that collective punishment used to happen in FATA in the past, collective punishment was inhumane.
The system of collective punishment in Karachi has been introduced by K Electric and they boldly believe that if someone steals electricity, catch them, file an FIR, cut off the electricity, how is it that if someone steals electricity, the whole neighborhood will be punished. Turn off the power.
The Minister of Local Government expressed his anger and said that because of electricity theft, the bill payers get expensive electricity, those who honestly submit electricity bills should be provided uninterrupted electricity, people should pay water bills but If not, what does it mean that I should turn off the water? The burden of losses due to electricity theft is put on those who pay the bill, the burden of electricity theft is also borne by the bill payers. He said that one person cannot be punished for the entire society but the protestors. But K Electric FIR is deducted too.
