Afghanistan won the first T20 World Cup match by a huge margin of 125 runs.
Uganda won the toss and invited Afghanistan to bat first in the fifth match of the T20 World Cup at the Guyana National Stadium.
Afghanistan gave Uganda a target of 184 runs to win, Afghanistan scored 183 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Afghanistan’s opener Rehmatullah Garbaz and Ibrahim Zadran provided a great start to the team by making a partnership of 154 runs for the team.
Rahmatullah Garbaz scored 76 runs off 45 balls with the help of 4 sixes and 4 fours, Najeebullah Zadran scored only 2 runs while Gulbuddin Naib scored 4 runs and Azmatullah Umarzai scored 5 runs. Mohammad Nabi 14 runs off 16 balls. And captain Rashid Khan remained not out by scoring two runs off one ball.
For Uganda, Brian Masaba and Cosmas Kiwata took two wickets each while Alpesh Ramajani dismissed one player.
The entire Ugandan team was bowled out for 58 runs in 16 overs thus Afghanistan won by a huge margin of 125 runs. On behalf of Afghanistan, Fazal Haque Farooqui scored five, Naveen Haque and Rashid Khan scored two while Mujibur Rehman scored one. The player was dismissed.
