The Islamabad High Court has declared that there is no restriction on the reporting of court proceedings.

A hearing was held on the request of the Islamabad High Court Journalists Association against the ban on reporting of court proceedings. On behalf of the Press Association, the petitioners Fayyaz Mehmood, Rizwan Qazi and Aqeel Afzal appeared in the court.

Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Justice Aamir Farooq remarked that there is no ban on reporting court proceedings, media can report court proceedings, the ban is not on reporting but on irresponsible reporting, there is a problem only on sensationalism. Is.

During the hearing, Pemra’s legal team submitted a response to the court.

The court asked the Additional Attorney General whether the federal government is related to this matter. On which Additional Attorney General Manoor Iqbal Dogal said that this is a matter of PEMRA, not the federal government.

Barrister Umar Ejaz Gilani took the position that the law which PEMRA has resorted to, does not prohibit reporting the pending cases. Later, the court adjourned the hearing of the case till June 11, calling for final arguments at the next hearing.
