Pakistan People’s Party Vice President and Parliamentary Leader Sherry Rehman highlighted the very important problem faced by women working in offices through her X-post.
In her latest post on social media application X (formerly Twitter), Sherry Rahman spoke about the issue of men in professional life addressing discrimination against female colleagues.
In her post, Sherry Rahman said, “I request the men who work in the office with women to address us in the same way as you call your other colleagues as ‘Sir’ or ‘Sahib’.” When the time comes, don’t take our name directly like that, but add ‘Madam’ or ‘Sahiba’ to the names.
She added, ‘If the person working with me is being addressed as Sir, then I’m sorry, then I won’t allow you to directly say my name ‘Sherry’ because if it’s out of respect to my colleagues. If they are not being called with their full names, then I should not be called with ‘sir or madam’ before my name.
Sherry Rehman said, “Yes, if you are calling my male partner by his first name only, then if you call me Sherry, then I have no problem, but if not, then let me remind you. If you and I are working in the same place, we are both worthy, so I deserve the respect you deserve.’
It should be noted that this statement of Parliamentary Leader Sherry Rehman is rapidly becoming viral on social media. Women belonging to the working class on X are seen agreeing with Sherry and talking about the discrimination in the offices.
