The prices of essential items increased by 0.45% on a weekly basis.

During the last week, the prices of essential commodities in the country increased by 0.45 percent on a weekly basis and by 21.69 percent on an annual basis.

According to the weekly report released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics on the price sensitive index, in the week ending June 6, the prices of 14 items of daily use in the country decreased and the prices of 18 remained stable. On the contrary, the prices of 19 items increased.

On a weekly basis, the price of bread increased by 3.02%, garlic by 2%, petrol by 1.74%, dal by 1.43%, diesel by 1.42%, totabasmati rice by 1.32%, red chilli powder by 1.31%, eggs by 0.94%, flour by 0.77% and mustard oil. The price decreased by 0.46 percent.

In the price of onion 33.21%, tomato 15.34%, banana 4.93%, gram dal 3.69%, potato 2.62%, chicken 1.84%, georgette 1.57%, jaggery 1.45%, dal mash 1.07%, lawn 0.66%, The price of cigarettes increased by 0.41 percent and energy saver by 0.38 percent.

The price sensitive index increased by 0.81 percent for the group with the lowest monthly income of Rs 17732, from Rs 17733 to Rs 22888, from Rs 22889 to Rs 29517, from Rs 29518 to Rs 44175 and above. There was an increase of 0.70 percent, 0.56 percent, 0.51 percent and 0.33 percent respectively.
