What does Badu Badi mean? Fawad Chaudhry also jumped into the debate

Recently, the song ‘Akh Lali Badu Badi’ reached the heights of popularity after Chahat Fateh Ali Khan sang it. This song was filmed on actress Mumtaz in the 60s Bollywood film Banarsi Thug, which was played by Pakistani singer Madam Noor Jahan. gave his voice.

However, an interesting discussion broke out on the micro-blogging website X regarding this song, in which former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry was also seen contributing.

A female journalist, Sabahat Zakaria, asked in a post on X that ‘So, there is a dispute going on here. I say (and an Indian Punjabi friend agrees) that bado badi means chhti chhiti or jaldi jaldi’.

 

 

 

 

She added that her husband, however, says it means: ‘Ew/for no reason’.

In his post, the journalist invited other Punjabi speakers to share their views.

On which many people gave their opinion on the meaning of Badu Badi, including Fawad Chaudhry.

Fawad Chaudhry, who is himself a Punjabi, replied explaining its meaning that ‘badu badi means ‘unwillingly’ by force, something over which you have no control’.

At the same time, he explained the use of this word in the song and said that in this super hit song of Noor Jahan, it is used as ‘My eyes have lost control, my eyes are looking for their beloved’.
